The original roof system was failing, the large skylight was leaking, and joint sealants in the granite cladding had failed, all allowing moisture intrusion into exhibit halls and artifact storage areas.
The roof system was replaced with a new, durable multiple ply membrane roof system, the skylight was repaired, and selected areas of joint sealants in the exterior granite cladding were also replaced.
